Buds

If you’re looking to roll your own joints, you’ll need some buds to grind. There are so many different strains on the market, all with varying levels of THC and CBD. As a beginner, high THC strains may be a bit too strong. Instead, you may want to start with higher CBD strains or those with a more balanced ratio. Here are a few strains to check out that might be right up your alley:

  • ACDC
  • Blue Dream
  • Cannatonic
  • Harlequin
  • Jack Herer
  • Northern Lights

Once you’ve selected your strain, you’ll need some rolling papers and a quality grinder among other dispensary products for beginners.

Pre-Rolls

If you’re a little intimidated by the idea of rolling joints yourself, another way to introduce yourself to smoking cannabis is by picking up some pre-rolls. These pre-rolled joints often have a bad rap. It used to be they were made of low-quality, junk buds. Today, however, several cannabis producers have gotten into the pre-roll market, producing quality joints you can just pull out and light up.

Vape Pens

Vape pens offer a smoother experience, and they’re much easier on your lungs. You’ll find rechargeable and disposable options. Rechargeable ones are more expensive, but you can use them over and over, changing out the carts when they’re empty. Disposable ones are cheaper, but you have to replace the entire thing every time you run out of oil.

Tinctures

Tinctures are liquid cannabis products that come in small glass jars. Their lids have droppers in them, which allows for fast, simple dosing. Unlike smoking or vaping, you can take tinctures sublingually or mix them into food. You can also apply them topically. You’ll find full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate products. Full-spectrum products are the closest to the original plant, containing all of the plant’s cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds.

Edibles

Edibles include a vast array of cannabis-infused foods and beverages, including cookies, brownies, candies, gummies, sparkling water, coffee, and more. These products are discreet, easy to dose, and delicious. The thing to keep in mind is that edibles take longer to take effect. With smoking, vaping, and sublingual tinctures, you’ll notice the effects within the first 30 minutes. With edibles, the cannabinoids need to be processed through your digestive system first before they’re absorbed by your body. As such, it often takes about 90 minutes before you begin feeling anything. The effects also last longer, too.

Topicals

Topicals are products that you apply to your skin rather than inhale or ingest. They include creams, lotions, and balms infused with cannabis and other ingredients to help alleviate aches, pains, and other ailments. The cannabinoids absorb into your skin to help achieve the desired results. Unlike other cannabis products, topicals can’t get you high, no matter what the THC content.

Choosing Dispensary Products

Finding cannabis products that are right for you can be a bit challenging if you don’t know where to start. When you do visit the dispensary for the first time, don’t be afraid to ask your budtender for suggestions.
